This day is dedicated to raising awareness on IF and addressing the urgent need to standardise care for patients across Europe.
IF is a life-threatening condition where the body cannot absorb essential nutrients and fluids due to malfunction of the bowel. IF remains under-recognized and underfunded, leaving many patients across Europe without access to the life-saving therapy they need.
1F Day has been established by the Leading Intestinal Failure Equality (LIFE) initiative, a multistakeholder group of experts, healthcare professionals and patients, joint in complementing the European-wide Optimal Nutritional Care for All (ONCA) campaign, and is a call to action to advocate for equal care for all.
IF Day is focused on highlighting disparities in access to treatment. We’re calling on policymakers and healthcare professionals to support a future where patients receive equitable care and are able to live in dignity, healthcare professionals collaborate efficiently across borders, and policymakers drive change that will save lives.
