Today is the world obesity day. Obesity is defined as abnormal and excessive fat deposition in the body. It is not merely the increased BMI. But also the increased waist circumstance. Which is called the central obesity. Cental obesity is very much prevalent in Sri Lanka. Cental obesity is defined as waist circumference more than 80 cm for females and more than 90 cm for males.

අද ලෝක තරබාරුකමේ දිනයයි.තරබාරුව යනු ශරීරයේ අසාමාන්‍ය හා අධික මේද තැන්පත් වීම ලෙස අර්ථ දක්වා ඇත.එය හුදෙක් BMI වැඩිවීම පමණක් නොවේ.එසේම ඉණ ප්‍රමාණයේ වැඩිවීමද වේ.එය මධ්‍යම ස්ථුලතාවය ලෙස හැඳින්වේ. එය ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ ඉතා බහුලයි. මධ්‍ය ස්ථුලතාවය යනු කාන්තාවන්ගේ ඉණ වට ප්‍රමාණය සෙන්ටිමීටර 80 ට වැඩි සහ පිරිමින් සඳහා සෙන්ටිමීටර 90 ට වැඩි ලෙස අර්ථ දැක්වේ.
